Encouragement and guidance for special needs families
Therefore encourage on another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
It’s hard for others to fully understand the challenges and responsibilities of parents of children who have special needs. Your children may have fragile health or an extreme medical conditions. Perhaps you adopted a child who has experienced trauma or has a severe disability. You as a parent have continual tasks and obligations that must be carried out. It’s hard to talk about your family life with other parents.
Members of a Christian congregation often rally to help in an emergency, but when they see the ongoing struggles of a family they may not be sure how to help. Where do you start? What does a special needs family need?
Whether you’re trying to find Christian resources as parents, looking for guidance from others who understand, or hoping your congregation can build a supportive network for a family with extraordinary challenges, IDDM’s Light for Parents program can help. We can provide biblical encouragements, information and guidance to parents of children with all kinds of extraordinary challenges. We also want to help churches find ways to provide a supportive network without being intrusive or adding to the burdens of a special needs family.
Light for Parents is led by parents who have raised children with extraordinary challenges and who want to pass on the blessings God has given them as they tended their families and leaned on the Lord.
