Multiple languages to multiply Christians around the world

Multi-Language Productions (MLP), a division of WELS World Missions, has created more than 2.9 million video, audio, and print resources for use in global outreach. Educational and devotional materials have been translated into 57 languages to date—all to share the gospel message with people around the world.

MLP continues to expand well beyond conventional ways of reaching the lost, embracing emerging technology trends such as data-driven automation, e-learning, mobile websites, smart devices, and social media. TELL Network, MLP’s online leader training program, uses technology to engage and teach large numbers of Bible study students, group leaders, and church planters around the world, especially in places where WELS does not have resident missionaries. Through these varied resources, MLP assists and enhances outreach and training for all world mission fields and national churches.

Traditional means of reaching the lost have not been forgotten. MLP continues to provide resources in different languages for people who don’t have access to the internet and technology, including ministry resources like The People’s Bible, textbooks, illustrated story cloths and posters, as well as worship and praise music.

Meet the team

Mr. Jonathan Gross serves as Innovation Consultant for WELS World Missions. He works with world mission teams and national church leaders to develop sustainable strategies that expand gospel ministry around the world. His work includes helping world mission fields put new technology to careful use—from AI-assisted translation drafts that native-speaking reviewers refine into sound biblical resources, to digital outreach that brings Bible courses to people no missionary could visit in person. He also builds tools that help ministry leaders collaborate across cultures and languages in Africa, Asia-Oceania, Europe, and Latin America.

Before accepting his current position, Gross served as Promotions & Productions Producer for Academia Cristo, overseeing translation, media production, and digital outreach across Latin America. He continues to support that mission while helping World Missions connect global ministry efforts.

Jon and his wife, Elise—who serves on the One Latin America Team as the Director of Women’s Ministry for Academia Cristo—live in Quito, Ecuador, with their son, Moses.

Missionary Joel Hoff joined the TELL Network team in September 2022 as the TELL Missionary in Africa. He partners with the One Africa Team to equip and encourage men throughout Africa through TELL. As an instructor and mentor, he teaches TELL courses, walks alongside students as they grow in their understanding of God’s Word, and helps prepare them to serve as Bible leaders and disciple-makers in their own communities.

Before joining TELL, Hoff served in WELS mission fields in Cameroon (2010–2013), Albania (2006–2007), and Ukraine. In the United States, he served as pastor of Divine Peace in Renton, Washington (2013–2018) and Trinity in Neenah, Wisconsin (2018–2022).

Joel and his wife, Kate, live in Lusaka, Zambia, with their four sons: Micah, Caleb, Josiah, and Benjamin.
