Luke 17:20-37
Luke 17
The Kingdom of God Is Within You
20Ā The Pharisees asked Jesus when the kingdom of God would come. Jesus answered them, āThe kingdom of God is not coming in a way you can observe, 21Ā nor will people say, āLook, here it is!ā or āLook, there it is!ā because the kingdom of God is within [1] you.ā
Jesus Will Return
22Ā He said to the disciples, āThe days will come when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it. 23Ā They will tell you, āLook, there he is!ā or āLook, here he is!ā Do not go out or chase after them, 24Ā for the Son of Man in his day will be like the lightning that flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other side. 25Ā But first, he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. 26Ā Just as it was in the days of Noah, so will it also be in the days of the Son of Man. 27Ā They were eating and drinking, marrying and being given in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all. 28Ā Likewise, just as it was in the days of Lot: They were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building, 29Ā but on the day when Lot went out from Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. 30Ā It will be the same on the day the Son of Man is revealed. 31Ā On that day, the person who is on the roof and has belongings in the house should not go down to get them. Likewise, the person in the field should not turn back for anything. 32Ā Remember Lotās wife! 33Ā Whoever tries to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will keep it. 34Ā I tell you, on that night there will be two people in one bed. One will be taken, and the other will be left. 35Ā There will be two women grinding grain at the same place. One will be taken, and the other will be left.ā [2]
37Ā āWhere, Lord?ā they asked him.
He said to them, āWhere the corpse is, there the vultures will be gathered.ā
