Christians Let God Sort Things Out – July 19, 2026

One key truth: God will sort everything out in the end.

“This is what the LORD says—
Israel’s King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty:
I am the first and I am the last;
apart from me there is no God.
Who then is like me? Let him proclaim it.
Let him declare and lay out before me
what has happened since I established my ancient people,
and what is yet to come—
yes, let them foretell what will come.
Do not tremble, do not be afraid.
Did I not proclaim this and foretell it long ago?
You are my witnesses. Is there any God besides me?
No, there is no other Rock; I know not one.”
All who make idols are nothing,
and the things they treasure are worthless.
Those who would speak up for them are blind;
they are ignorant, to their own shame.

Who shapes a god and casts an idol,
which can profit nothing?
People who do that will be put to shame;
such craftsmen are only human beings.
Let them all come together and take their stand;
they will be brought down to terror and shame.
Isaiah 44:6-11

Christians Let God Sort Things Out

It can be hard living in a world that doesn’t value the God of the Bible.

Scroll through social media for five minutes and you’ll see it. Listen to conversations at school. Watch what people celebrate, chase after, or build their lives around. Everyone seems to be looking for something to give them purpose, happiness, or security.

It seems like everyone has their own “god,” doesn’t it? Their own truth. Their own ultimate source of wisdom. Modern gods might not be idols carved out of wood or stone. Modern idols often start as good things that become ultimate things.

Family. Money. Career. Success. Entertainment. A good reputation. Sex. Sports. Popularity. Being accepted. Looking good. Getting likes and followers. These can all be good things. Blessings from God. But when they become the thing we depend on most for our identity, happiness, or security, they become dangerous. They take the place in our heart reserved for God alone.

The scary part is that idols rarely announce themselves. Most people don’t wake up and say, “Today I’m going to worship popularity.” Instead, little by little, a good thing becomes the most important thing. Even Christians can fall into that trap.

When we look at Jesus, we know that no one and nothing is like our God! He’s the King! He’s almighty. He’s always been around and always will be around. And, he’s our Redeemer. He’s not just a powerful and holy God. He’s compassionate. He’s caring. He’s kind. He bought us back from sin, death, and the devil through his life, death, and resurrection!

We know about God’s greatness and how he’s like none other. But still, others around us might choose to not honor God. And when that happens, it can be tempting to to get angry, mock them, or try to prove how wrong they are. Or it can also make us nervous to live in a world where so many people trust in anything else but Jesus. But God tells us we don’t have to be afraid. He knows and sees everything. And, we don’t have to make sure everyone gets what they deserve. That’s God’s domain.

Christians let God sort everything out in the end.

Instead, keep your eyes on Jesus and the forgiveness he won for you. Be a light in a world that often feels dark. Love people enough to tell them God’s truth, and love them enough to show them God’s grace.

Prayer:

Lord, I look around me and see people dishonoring you. I see people trusting in many things besides you. Let me first look at my own heart. If there’s anything I put my ultimate hope in besides you, I repent of that! There is no one better than you. No one that gives me the peace, security, identity, and future that you do! Let me live my life in such a way that I bring you glory and am a witness of your love and mercy. In Jesus’ name, amen.
