Exactly What I Need: Faith – March 1, 2026
One key truth: Faith allows us to trust Godās incredible promises, giving us hope and confidence to live for him.
Now the Lord said to Abram, āGet out of your country and away from your relatives and from your fatherās house and go to the land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great. You will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse anyone who dishonors you. All of the families of the earth will be blessed in you.ā So Abram went, as the Lord had told him.
Genesis 12:1-4 EHV
Exactly What I Need: Faith
Have you ever trusted someone and then been disappointed? Maybe your parents said, āWeāll do it, trust us!ā and then work got in the way. Or a friend said, āIāve got your back,ā and then pulled a prank on you in front of your classmates.
It stings, doesnāt it? Once someone breaks our trust, it can be hard to believe themāor anyoneāagain.
Now imagine God asking Abram (later Abraham) to do something even bigger. God said, āLeave your home, your family, and go to a land youāve never seen. Iāll make you a great nation, and through you, Iāll bless the whole world.ā
At this point, Abram had no children, was as old as your grandparents, and his wife couldnāt have kids. Still, he trusted God completely. He believed Godās promises, even though he couldnāt see how they would happen.
So Abram went. He obeyed and went where God led him. Thatās faith.
Abramās trust in God gave him confidence that God would keep every promise, including the greatest one: the coming of a Savior from his familyāJesus! As we go through life, we experience the same truthāGodās promises made to Abram are true for us: Our sins are forgiven, we have eternal life, and we belong to Godās family.
Once God makes a promise, he will never go back on it. Just like Abram, we trust God by faith, even when we canāt see how it all works out.
Prayer:
Lord, give us faith like Abramāfaith that trusts your promises, even when we canāt see them yet. Keep our hearts steady and confident in your rock-solid promises. Amen.
