Equality of sin
I recently read an article discussing capital punishment and if it still applies today. The article shows how Genesis 9:6, which reads āWhoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made mankind," has abiding authority even today. The author claims that this command by God demonstrates the sacredness of human life. My question is the following: does this mean that God does, in fact, view some sins as worse than others?
All sin is worthy of Godās condemnation (Romans 6:23; Galatians 3:10).Ā The Bible makes it clear that sinful thoughts are violations of Godās holy law as are sinful actions (Matthew 5:28; 1 John 3:15).Ā Godās allowance for harsh punishment of those who break the fifth commandment by murderāeven today (Romans 13:4)āillustrates his will that people not end othersā time of grace.Ā God alone will do that:Ā directly or indirectly through the government.Ā God desires that all ābe saved and come to knowledge of the truthā (1 Timothy 2:4).
