Seminex is a term used for Concordia Seminary in Exile. The year of 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the seminary in exile that was formed after a schism occurred that involved the authority of Scripture, approaches to interpret Scripture, and other church doctrines. Dr. Joel Pless will review what led up to this time of doctrinal challenge centered on the campus of the LCMS seminary in St Louis and the inevitable split that occurred.
Dr. Pless has been teaching in the Theology Department at Wisconsin Lutheran College, Milwaukee since 2000. He is also an adjunct instructor for Martin Luther College, New Ulm. Prior to serving at WLC, he pastored a dual parish in north-central Wisconsin for fourteen years. Dr. Pless is the immediate past president of the WELS Historical Institute and is a former board member of the Lutheran Historical Conference.
