Viviana and I sat on a ferry, crossing from Buenos Aires to Montevideo. As far as I knew, I was the first WELS missionary to set foot in Uruguay. We were traveling to meet Nahir, a faithful Academia Cristo student nearing the end of her Discipleship courses. Nahir picked us up from customs, and we rode an hour east to her home, but soon the purpose of our trip came into focus. My travel companion, Viviana, placed a document on the table with the bold title “Confesión de fe.” I listened as Viviana guided Nahir through the confession of faith process—96 questions giving Nahir the opportunity to confess the biblical truths she had studied. . .

On August 30, 2025, Asia Lutheran Seminary (ALS) hosted its opening worship for the academic year. The school's new motto is “Truth Shared,” consisting of three sub-points: be one, be bold, be true. This school year's worship services will focus on the first sub-point - be one - which focuses on shared faith, collaborative ministry, and commitment to partnership across diverse cultures.

On August 12, the Behmer family relocated from Quito, Ecuador, to Mexico City, Mexico. This is to participate in the One Latin America Team’s new plan to position missionaries in flexible hubs in strategic locations. Mexico City was chosen as the first flexible hub given its number of Academia Cristo students and groups. Mexico City also has one of the most connected airports in the region, allowing for quick and efficient access to other Academia Cristo students and groups throughout Latin America. So far, the Behmer family is loving it!
