Hakim was no stranger to his life being turned upside down. As a young man, he was impacted by the violence in South Sudan but decided that he wanted to use his life to reach others with the words of God’s mercy. When he got to Canada, he was welcomed by the South Sudanese community and found Saviour of the Nations, which serves people from the Nuer tribe. Now, Hakim is serving God in more than one area of his life: he is a husband, student, new father, and future church leader.

Six new pastors from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary were assigned this morning to serve WELS home mission congregations, and one additional pastor was assigned to a world mission field:
|
- Bitter, Jacob – Pan de Vida, Garden Grove, Calif. (Hispanic outreach)
- Borgwardt, Jacob – Crossroads, Chicago, Ill.
- Satorius, Noah – Northdale, Tampa, Fla. (Hispanic outreach)
- Satorius, Zachary – World Missionary, One Latin America Team
- Schultz, Ethan – Lamb of God (New mission start), Williston, N.D.
- Stein, Nathaniel – Christ, Clarksville, Md.
- Valdez, Phillip – Abiding Savior, Killeen, Texas
In addition, twenty-three Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary students were assigned to serve as vicars through the Vicar in a Mission Setting program, and one additional vicar was assigned to serve a WELS World Missions partner in Colombia.

You can support theological education workshops for Nuer Sudanese in Ethiopia as part of the Taste of Missions offering! Lam Nhial Luak is leading monthly workshops for Nuer Sudanese church leaders in Ethiopia and South Sudan. Many of these leaders serve faithfully with little to no formal training. WELS supports this ministry by covering the cost of food, travel, and printed materials—just $500 a month trains 14 leaders in two locations. Your financial support ensures that these dedicated pastors continue receiving biblical training, strengthening their ability to shepherd their congregations.

Jarrell is a rapidly growing town located 44 miles north of Austin in northern Williamson County. The county has seen its population surge from 426,000 in 2010 to 671,000 in 2022, with continued growth expected. For the past three years, Pastor Don Patterson has been working with a core group of 11, which began holding weekly worship in October 2024. The group has identified 90 prospects, many of whom they connected with by volunteering in the Jarrell Bible Community Food Pantry. The plan is to rent space for eight years before securing land and constructing a permanent church home.
