In the bustling port city of Guayaquil, Ecuador, known as the “Pearl of the Pacific,” God is writing a beautiful new chapter of spiritual transformation. Amid the vibrancy of this coastal city, an even greater treasure is being revealed—a harvest of souls responding to the life-changing message of the gospel.
Recently, a local church plant celebrated an incredible milestone: 11 new believers were welcomed into God’s family through Baptism. What a joy to witness the Holy Spirit at work! This group—two infants, two children, and seven teenagers and adults—each has a unique story of grace, yet all share the same firm foundation in Christ across all generations.
These baptisms are the fruit of faithful and persistent ministry. Isidro Chonillo has devoted years to teaching and sharing God’s Word within his own family and community. His commitment reminds us that powerful ministry often begins at home. In a city filled with the challenges and opportunities of urban outreach, seeing families united in faith is a testimony to the love of Christ at work.

“ 'Hi Cindy! Synod is looking for names of women who might be interested in teaching woman-to-woman evangelism . . . in East Asia . . .'
That text began my part in a team effort between the Asia-Oceania Team and WELS Women’s Ministry for three women to lead a friendship evangelism conference in Asia . . . The plan was that three American Christian women would present at a three-day conference with translation from the lead national pastor, and I was invited to be one of the three. I thought: I’m the worst evangelist I know."
Hear more from Cindy Lendt, who recently accepted the call to serve as Women’s Ministry Facilitator for the Asia-Oceania Team, and learn how God opened doors for these three women to strengthen their skills, widen their experience, and equip women to share their faith through this conference.
