Climb the hill again

Climb the hill again

After nearly two weeks spent in India, I have a new personal motto: "Climb the hill again."

When people ask me where I am and I answer India, they usually google it and comment on how beautiful it is. And it is truly beautiful in the foothills of the Himalayas! However, they usually don’t realize how the whole town seems to be built on the side of a hill. Everything here is either up or down. Very little is lateral or sideways. My room, for example, (where I’m currently living out of suitcases) is at 6,800 feet above sea level. My language school, where I take classes every day, is more than 7,300 feet above sea level! That means that every day I have to climb more than 500 feet – or more than 150 meters for those who think in metric.

Read more from Missionary Hildebrant as he connects this daily climb to the Christian life—returning again and again to Christ for grace, forgiveness, and strength.

My Christian life: Sharing God's peace with Spanish speakers

“ 'Every time we go to a new place, we come back home so energized; we just want to do more. We feel so fueled by the Spirit,' says Maribel."

Read "My Christian life: Sharing God’s peace with Spanish speakers" from Forward in Christ magazine and learn how God is working through Ángel and Maribel to share true peace with others.

Enhancement: Mount Olive, St. Paul, Minn.

Mount Olive is a historic congregation located between downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minn., in a highly populated urban neighborhood. With a debt-free facility and a creative, mission-minded core group, Mount Olive is uniquely positioned to serve as a healthy WELS presence in the urban core. Lay leaders have long been involved with other WELS churches, including a Merge for Mission effort, while continuing to invest locally in worship, children’s ministry, and community engagement. This enhancement grant will support a full-time pastor who will build on existing momentum as Mount Olive grows as a vibrant city church reaching people across the Twin Cities.
