Last month, members and guests of the Evangelisch-Lutherische Freikirche (ELFK), WELS' sister church in Germany, gathered to celebrate a remarkable milestone—150 years of God’s grace and faithfulness.

Taste of Missions 2026 celebrated the worldwide reach of WELS mission work, gathering people in person and online for worship, missionary stories, fellowship, and the commissioning of 11 new home and world missionaries. The event highlighted how WELS members share in gospel outreach through prayer, encouragement, giving, and support for missionaries serving around the world.

Those were the words shared with 15 pastors from Cameroon, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, and Zambia as they received Bachelor of Divinity degrees through Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary's Pastoral Studies Institute.
|
Already serving as pastors in their congregations, these men balanced ministry, family responsibilities, travel challenges, and years of study—all while remaining committed to proclaiming Christ. Their graduation marks not the end of their journey, but a continuation of their work training future leaders, strengthening congregations, and sharing the gospel throughout Africa.
